3 Myths You Should Forget in 2015

There are some myths that are so ridiculous, so over the top nonsense that you would think no one would believe them. However, some of these still persist, even in 2015. We’re here to dispel some of them in the hopes that you won’t be fooled anymore.

SEO Doesn’t Work

Let’s start with the big one first – SEO doesn’t work. Why is it not true? Because SEO is based on a set of algorithms used by search engines. These algorithms change all the time, but they remain algorithms, meaning they’re predictable. We test different tactics and we manage to predict the outcome. It’s true that Google don’t give us a direct way of knowing how their algorithms work, but we use manage to reverse engineer those so we can get predictable results. So, yeah, SEO works. The type of SEO that used to work give years ago doesn’t work anymore because the field changes all the time, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work at all.

You Don’t Need Links Anymore

We’re not sure where this one originated, but it has to stop now! Links are more important than ever. Links from authority sites and links from social media are increasing your rank more than anything else. Of course, for natural link building you still need to have excellent content, but that doesn’t mean that links no longer matter.

Position Doesn’t Matter

Many self-proclaimed experts will tell you how your position doesn’t matter and that not every visit to your generate a sale. Obviously not every visit to your site will generate a sale, but that doesn’t mean your rank doesn’t matter. This is a logical fallacy simply because statistically speaking, the more people visit your site, the higher the chance someone will be interested. At the end of the day, you should look at your rank and sales and find the correlates.
