3 Things You Believe About SEO (that are not true)

When we go to a party and we tell people what we do, in most cases we manage to generate lots of interest. Saying that you work in SEO sends people the message that your work is somehow complicated, hence you must be really smart. However, even though it’s true that SEO is complicated, it’s not quantum mechanics so we usually end up explaining that it’s not as difficult as it sounds. Usually people ask a couple of questions and then they think they know enough about it and lose interest. There are also those who have read a thing or two about SEO online, so fancy themselves experts. This is where we manage to see what people actually believe in regards of our trade, which is in most cases far from the truth.

1. “SEO is all about being first!”

We wish it were that easy. Sure, we struggle to take our clients to the top, but our work doesn’t stop there. In many cases, this is where the true competition begins. We need to follow the market and ensure that our clients keep their position. That’s not all. Ranking doesn’t always guarantee traffic, which is why we also work on organic link building and tons of other stuff. SEO is not all about ranking.

2. “The Golden Keywords”

Some people tend to believe that there is a set of golden keywords that, when found, guarantees that your website will always be number one. This is, of course, nonsense. Keyword research is far too complex for a “set of golden keywords”. There are many variables and sometimes even though you may rank well for a certain keyword, you may still not generate the results you desire. We work hard to identify keywords that will probably lead to success. Which brings us to…

3. “SEO is an exact science”

First of all, SEO is not a science, let alone an exact one. We work with algorithms and probabilities and try to decipher Google’s rules (which is mostly based on trial and error). Things change so fast that it’s almost impossible to guarantee anything unless you’re 100% dedicated.

NXTFactor has a great focus on SEO so you can be sure that we’re always on top of our game. Even though the field changes a lot, we change with it and we’re never too far behind.
