The 3 deadly sins of SEO today

The 3 deadly sins of SEO today

We often talk about mistakes, and while there are the normal kind of mistakes that you sort of do, realize you were wrong and then lean how to do it properly, there are some mistakes in the SEO world that have the stature of deadly sins and are enough to fully dip your results. Here’s three of them.

Keyword stuffing

Keyword stuffing is using the same exact keywords and stuffing them into your text, rendering the thing unreadable. SEOs used to do that back in the day when things were simpler and you could absolutely fool Google. Today, however, Google has gotten about as smart as Skynet, so those are over. Now, keyword stuffing, as good results as it yielded back then, is the surest way to get penalized. And do you want to know the best part? You might not even want to do it intentionally. Sometimes words just bleed too much into the text. Be careful with this.

Automated link software

Using automated link software was the greatest SEO fad for a while. It completely revolutionized things for us and allowed us to create thousands of links to our sites in the matter of minutes. The problem? Google didn’t like that. Not one bit. After all, links are there not for your SEO purposes, but so they can let people know that your site is good. Thus, Google will recommend you. Meddling with this is like meddling with the primal forces of nature, and the Big G doesn’t allow that, so it unleashed the Penguin. Doing this now is SEO suicide.

Duplicate content

Copy/pasting online content is like grabbing a huge virtual katana and thrusting it into your gut. There’s no way you will get away with duplicate content. Google will hunt you down and take care of you faster than you can say, “But I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to do that…” Now you do, and you have no excuse.
