One of the most frustrating aspects of working in an SEO company is that oftentimes people don’t have realistic expectations. This is normal, of course, and we’ve learned to deal with it and explain how the whole process works. What makes it annoying is that many companies go ahead and make unrealistic promises, generating impossible expectations. Thus, when they fails and clients look for a different company to pick up where they’ve taken off, they still have those ridiculous ideas that things work right away and that results can be generated on a weekly basis. Sadly, the way the system works just doesn’t allow it to work this way. SEO is not a synthetic process. Things are not as simple as they used to be back in the day and people need to realize this. SEO is not a guaranteed success and definitely involves some percentage of risk. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t work, or that it’s not useful and worth it, but it does mean that if you think it’s going to skyrocket your sales in a week, it won’t.
Things used to be much simpler a while back, but Google picked up the tempo and for a good reason. Now the search engine works much better, which is great for them and their clients, but it does make our work more difficult. Not that we’re complaining – the field has been refreshing over the last couple of years, which is great. However, it means that we can’t guarantee anything, and it also means that results take more time because there are many factors to be considered. Still, we’ve made it so far and we’re not going anywhere. With quality work, everything is possible, and we know that better than most.
