Should you work with an agency or keep SEO in-house?

There is a big difference between what an SEO agency does and what an in-house team is capable of. There is a difference because in most cases the people working have a very different mindset. This doesn’t necessarily have to be the case, of course, and we’re aware that there are lots of exceptions to this rule. However, what we’re going to talk about in this article is the general trend of things. And the general trend is that agency is usually better than in-house. There are several reasons for it.

Agency specialists work on a variety of different projects over the course of the year, so their skill-set is quite a lot more diverse than your average in-house SEO. In-house, the employee is just doing the same thing over and over, and maybe even loses the motivation to learn and grow, which is crucial for good results. This is something an expert working at an agency, especially a good one, cannot afford to do in any way, shape or form.

Another reason is that agencies have a reputation to uphold. Unlike workers at the office, agencies are in competition with many others who are ready to take their place in the blink of an eye. They cannot afford down times or bad results. While individuals probably care for (and thus fear for) their jobs, the results they produce are not that competitive, in general. This allows them to be a bit more lax in their work. Even if the boss demands better results and those results are achieved, they probably still don’t have to be as good as those of an expert in an agency.
